As we head into the final weekend of Tasting Australia presented by RAA Travel, we chat with the event’s food curator, Emma McCaskill, about the success of the annual event and how she became one of SA’s most renowned foodies.

Emma McCaskill is in her second year as part of the Tasting Australia presented by RAA Travel’s creative team.

For more than 17 years, she has worked as a chef in kitchens around the globe, including Tokyo and Nottingham. In 2014, she returned to Adelaide to relaunch Penfolds Magill Estate before launching The Pot by Emma McCaskill and Sparkke at the Whitmore.

In her current role with Tasting Australia, which she does alongside her work as Industry Engagement Consultant for the SA Department for Education, Emma brings her flavour to the event.

For acclaimed chef Emma, sharing her knowledge of cookery is her passion. Being part of the creative team alongside co-directors Karena Armstrong and Darren Robertson allows her to practice this uniquely and imaginatively.

For the 2023 Tasting Australia presented by RAA Travel, Emma has worked with more than 70 local producers to ensure the event is more than a celebration of food and beverage but also applauds the amazing produce in South Australia.

Her favourite part, she tells us, is the Storytellers Series, a free event featuring festival talent on stage telling their stories.
