Don’t spend the last month of winter cooped up at home – Adelaide is buzzing with shows to see, festivals to attend and cosy fires to get around. Here’s what’s on (and worth getting out of your trackies for) in SA this August.

A Little More Barossa

1-31 August

This month-long festival celebrates the amazing food and wine of the Barossa, as well as the people behind it. The jam-packed program features over 50 events – including long lunches, masterclasses, degustation dinners and workshops – hosted across 40 of your favourite cellar doors, cafes and wineries.

Fleurieu Food Festival

1-31 August

The Fleurieu Food Festival is a month-long celebration of tantalising, tasty delicacies produced out of the Fleurieu Peninsula. It showcases the rich and diverse landscape of food and beverage producers and businesses in and around the stunning South Aussie region.

SALA Festival

1-31 August

The South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival – a statewide festival of visual art – is back, involving over 600 venues across the state and more than 9000 participating artists. The Festival celebrates the work of local visual artists, no matter their age or level of expertise, in the form of open studios, workshops, guided tours and at the SALA hub in Queens Theatre, Adelaide.

FIFA Fan Festival

1-20 August

Adelaide’s FIFA Fan Festival takes place at Festival Plaza, featuring a large screen to view the matches, plus cultural dance performances, DJs and live concerts by big names like San Cisco and Montaigne. Better yet, it’s free and there are a bunch of giveaways on offer at half time!

The Power of Her

8 August

A line-up of powerful and inspiring women will take to the stage for The Power of Her, presented by the Government of South Australia. With themes of empowerment, gender equality and representation, this diverse line-up of inspiring speakers and artists – including Taryn Brumfitt, Casey Donovan, Sam Bloom and Erin Phillips – is sure to inspire.

Hans Disco Spektakular

11-20 August

The Post SA’s very own Hot Topics presenter Matt Gilbertson is bringing his Hans Disco Spektakular to Adelaide and regional South Australia. During the award-winning comedy cabaret show you can expect a night full of plenty of disco hits, glamorous girls and glitter!

G Flip

25 August

Australian singer-songwriter, producer and drummer G Flip is bringing her DRUMMER tour to Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall. Expect to hear high-powered rock and pop tunes – and be sure to wear your dancing shoes!

Winter Weekends

1-26 August 

What better way to spend your Friday and Saturday nights than at some of Adelaide’s best restaurants, accompanied by toasty fire pits and performances? Make the most of Winter Weekends at participating locations.
